Pushing the Boundaries

5.26.18 Sea Lion Misbehaviour, Witch's Hat and Kicker Rock Snorkeling Achievements

This is what happens in the morning when the dinghies are lowered before breakfast and someone else beats us to them...

After breakfast - and after the crew chases the sea lions from our dinghies with the hoses - we are bound for San Cristobal (Chatham) - specifically Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, the capital of the Galapagos Province.

Our first stop is the Center for Interpretation - where we see some candelabra cacti, more pelicans & sea birds at Ochoa Beach. It is very interesting and strange to see a town with humans after so many islands with only animals.

After we finish our tour of the Interpretation Center, we have some free time in town to shop - or in my case, eat some sushi and drink some Rock City artisan beer with Juan at Midori

While we are eating our sushi, we watch a parade of decorated taxis below celebrating 25 years of their existence.

When we return to the ship for an absolutely delicious lunch of pizza and salad, we see that Juan #3 has outdone himself again with the towel art - honoring our earlier discovery of the stingrays. (As an added bonus, its eyes are chocolates).

After lunch we departed to Cerro Brojo to snorkel at Witch's Hat and later at Leon Dormido (Kicker Rock). WHOOPEE!  I managed Kicker Rock - even against the current! I never thought I would get through the channel, but I kept going. Saw a couple of sharks & tons of fish!

Our dinghy driver, Fernando, was not in a particularly friendly mood this afternoon, and when he yelled for us to get off the raft and into the water, it was with so much authority that I just flipped over the side backward.(Carole said I looked pretty impressive - like I knew what I was doing).

 Witch's Hat.

Kicker Rock (above and below).

After dinner, we depart for Santa Cruz.
