5/17/2018 - 5/19/2018 The Incredible Monkeys of the Amazon
Sometimes it's a challenge to cull the many photos for the best one to share on my blog. This is definitely the case with the many species of monkeys we found. Often I'll create a collage of assorted shots, but even that does not do this animal justice.
What intrigues me most about monkeys is their facial expressions - extremely difficult to capture in the Amazon when they are so high up in the canopy and usually backlit. But I have tried and hope you can still enjoy their awesomeness...

My absolute favorite monkeys were the Howler monkeys. Here we were, paddling upstream - close to the turnaround to head back - when the jungle was filled with incredible howling. I pictured monkeys the size of the great apes the size of King Kong, but apparently they are quite small.
